#TrumpTapes: Memes & Jokes on Donald Trump Campaign Problems

Many people were extremely offended by comments that Republican nominee Donald Trump made in 2005 on an old videtape to then Access Hollywood host Billy Bush. The tape, which was unearthed by the Washington Post on Friday, October 7, captured Trump making lewd and crass comments to women, including referring to grabbing women by the "p-ssy." Some equated this to sexual assault, which is obviously not funny at all but is a very serious issue. Trump, in turn, apologized for the comments in a very unusual videotaped interview filed from Trump Tower. However, he was also defiant on his own tape, pledging to bring up what he called Bill Clinton's abuse of women and Hillary's alleged bullying of Bill's "victims" in the second presidential debate on Sunday, October 9. The scandal grew even more heated when, on Saturday October 8, a slew of top Republicans announced that they either 1) were not voting for Trump or 2) were not voting for Trump and wanted him to drop out of the 2016 presidential race and let his vice presidential running mate Mike Pence assume his place at the top of the ticket. Trump then responded that there was "zero chance" he would quit and arcane Republican National Committee rules meant it would be extremely difficult, if not logistically impossible at this late date, for the RNC to boot Trump on its own. Trump did have some supporters who gathered outside Trump Tower and took to Twitter. On Twitter, though, all of this sparked the inevitable attempts to be funny and create memes and jokes. People's attempts - some more tasteless than others - filled the social media site as the scandal grew more and more elaborate. (Twitter)
